Chicago cops turn their backs on Lightfoot at hospital after two officers shot
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has drawn our ire multiple times for her callous handling of her city’s ridiculously high crime rates. Not only does she embolden “activists” against cops, but she actively contributes to her city’s terrible situation by pushing to defund the police.
No wonder officers are resigning in droves.
After Chicago Police Officer Ella French, 29, was shot and killed during a traffic stop Saturday night, her partner was left to fight for his life at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Lightfoot dared to show her face at the hospital — probably for the photo opportunities — where she was greeted with a whole bunch of cold shoulders.
In the period beginning Friday at 6 p.m. and ending at midnight Sunday, the Chicago Police Department recorded 54 shooting incidents, statistics show. And yet Lightfoot still wants to act like she has any kind of handle on things.
