Democrats hit panic button over Harris’s bad press, call in damage control
Eight prominent female Democratic strategists reportedly met for dinner in July to discuss how they could best support a flailing Kamala Harris — who’s actively hurting Democrats’ chances in 2022 and beyond.
Harris’s polling is underwater following a series of gaffes and missteps, and former aides have alleged an abusive work environment.
A source familiar with the dinner told Axios the strategists wanted to emphasize that Harris is being treated unfairly because of her race and gender. But get this: Harris’s favorability was five percentage points higher among men than women in a recent Morning Consult poll.
President Joe Biden has given Harris a high profile as vice president, and officially refers to his administration as the “Biden-Harris” administration. But honestly, that was probably one of the worst moves he could make.

“Optics”: Senate judiciary Republicans sat on ATF nominee racism charges for months
Brace yourself for a tidal wave of swamp water.
Republican staffers on the Senate Judiciary Committee first learned of racism charges concerning President Joe Biden’s anti-gun nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms nearly two months before GOP lawmakers on the committee took any action on the allegation.
The nominee, David Chipman, in 2007 suggested Black agents “must have been cheating” on a promotional assessment because an “unusually large number” had passed the exam. Chipman was an ATF manager at the time he allegedly made the comment.
The Republican staffers were informed in mid-June that the former ATF agent was willing to talk with the committee about the incident but one of the staffers said their hands were tied… due to “optics.”
