Politi-fakeout: fact-checker caught red-handed in a ridiculously bold lie
PolitiFact published a completely inaccurate fact check on Tuesday, accusing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) of making a false statement about Democrats’ court-packing initiative.
During a press conference last week Cruz said, “You didn’t see Republicans, when we had control of the Senate, try to rig the game. You didn’t see us try to pack the court.”
PolitiFact then decided the best course of action would be to only analyze the first sentence, completely ignoring any context whatsoever.
The entire “fact-check” reads like an opinion piece that you might find in The New York Times.
You’d think that a news outlet like PolitiFact, which boasts about how unbiased it is, would put their fact-checkers on a shorter leash.
