How does an “impartial” judge of a trial also vote to impeach the defendant?

Even France sees “woke leftism” as an existential threat – so why can’t we?

I’m not a huge fan of France or their President, Emmanuel Macron. But I’ll be the first one to give anyone credit where credit is due. And right now, he’s due quite a bit of credit for saying the quiet part out loud.

And when you hear what he says, just remember that France isn’t exactly a bastion of social and political conservatism, okay?

The speech was made last year, but the New York Times is just now bringing a lot of this story to light.

I can’t get my hands on a word-for-word transcript, but here are a few of his highlights.

The Times surmised Macron’s speech as warning that American “woke leftism” was an “existential” threat to France that “fuels secessionism,” “abets Islamism,” “gnaws at national unity,” and “attacks France’s intellectual and cultural heritage.”

My favorite quote came from Jean-Michel Blanquer, President Macron’s education minister.

“There is a fight to be waged against an intellectual matrix coming from American universities and intersectional theses, which want to essentialize communities and identities, at the antipodes of our republican model which, for its part, postulates equality between human beings, independently of their characteristics of origin, sex, religion. It is the breeding ground for a fragmentation of our society and a vision of the world which converges with the interests of the Islamists.”

If France can see it from across the pond, how are so many Americans missing this massive threat not just to our democracy, but our very way of life?
